June 16, 2007 Service For Gerald K Nakata "Uncle Jerry" passed away at his home June 3, 2007. He was born March 18, 1923 on Bainbridge Island to Jitsuzo and Shima Nakata. After the war he started in the grocery business with Uncle John in Seattle at Paramount Grocery. In 1960 he move his family back to Bainbridge to start Lynnwood Market. When the Market closed in 1967 he started at Town and Country Thriftway. The 1970s saw him move to Poulsbo Market in the produce dept. He continued working until last year, most recently at Central Market. In 1949 he married Sueko Terayama. They had three children daughter Kathy and sons Rick and Jerry. In addition he is survived by daughter in law Yuka, granddaughter Kristi, sister Yoshie Iwasa of Los Angeles and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death in 2003 by Sue. Remembrances may be made to the Bainbridge Nikkei Memorial Fund or Hospice of Kitsap County. His memorial service officiated by Wayne Nakata, was held on Sat June 16th at Rolling Bay Presbyterian Church. To see a larger image please click on the thumbnail.
