Auntie Sa's Service January 5th 2002

Auntie Sa's service was conducted at 11AM at Rose Hill Cemetary in Whittier, California. Saturday was a bright, gorgeous day after many days of rain in Southern California. Wayne and Judy helped plan the service and Wayne officiated. The Chapel where the service was held was high in the hills of Whittier with a gorgeous view of downtown LA. Well over 100 people helped April, Rick, Jason, and Dana celebrate "Mary's" life. Who is Mary? April says that when Uncle Joe (real name Takeo) and Auntie opened up their shop in California, customers named him, "Joe" and Sachan, "Mary".

The service featured Scriptural Readings from Uncle Ken, a biography by Uncle Gerald, Acknowledgements by Rick, and the Benediction by Wayne. It was a simple yet moving service, one that showed Auntie was loved by a lot of people. Later a graveside service was officiated by Wayne at the site where Uncle Joe is buried.

One side note, Auntie Sa became friends with a neighbor who came down to the shop. They became very close after both their husbands passed away. Her friend Dorothy, has a grandson named Josh Groban. Josh just release his first CD last month (to hear his CD go to his website and click on "Music"). Josh was to perform two songs at the service but he was in Norway performing for the King and Queen. He actually called his father right before Auntie's service; as he was just getting ready for his performance.
